Reporting directly to the AVP of Human Resources, the Director of Human Resources Operations leads the delivery of integrated technical and operational solutions that enhance efficiency, compliance, and overall effectiveness of the HR function at Regis University. The role oversees payroll operations and HRIS management, driving process optimization through Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) configuration, reporting and data integrity initiatives.
The Director ensures operational excellence in Workday by developing and maintaining processes that support employees and the HR team, while aligning with the university’s mission and values. This position provides both leadership and hands-on experience, managing complex systems, payroll operations, and process improvement projects across the employee lifecycle. The Director serves as a key connector across Human Resources, Financial Affairs, and Information Technology to strengthen internal controls and streamline administrative processes.
The ideal candidate is a systems thinker and problem solver with a strong balance of technical expertise and human-centered leadership. They are fluent in Workday HCM and understand how thoughtful configuration and process design create better experiences for employees and more efficient operations for the university. They bring curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset-someone who asks, “why” and seeks effective ways to deliver results. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in the details of payroll compliance, as they are leading discussion about process redesign, data integrity, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Workday/HRIS Administration:
Serves as the primary subject matter expert and point of contact for Workday HCM and Payroll, providing front-line support, troubleshooting and guidance to HR staff and campus stakeholders.
Administers system configuration, testing, reporting and enhancements across all HR modules, including benefits, compensation, payroll, talent and absence management.
Ensures data integrity through regular audits, reconciliations, and validation processes; establishes protocols for accurate data management.
Manages Workday security roles, permissions, and tenant performance.
Leads system upgrades, testing and new module implementations in collaboration with IT and third-party vendors.
Identifies and implements opportunities to improve HR processes and create efficiencies through technology optimization, automation, and streamlined workflows.
Leadership and Operational Oversight:
Provides leadership and supervision to the payroll and HR operations team, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all payrolls for faculty, staff, student employees and temporary workers.
Oversees daily operations of HR systems and payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality service to the campus community.
Partners closely with HR leadership, Benefits, Financial Affairs and IT to align systems and processes that support the employee experience and institutional goals.
Establishes and maintains standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, accountability, and operational excellence across HR functions.
Promotes a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, proactively identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions that enhance workflow automation and service delivery.
Payroll Management:
Oversees end-to-end payroll processing and reconciliation for all employee groups, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as university policies.
Directs preparation and filing of all payroll-related reports ensuring accuracy of tax withholdings, deductions and contributions.
Serves as the primary liaison with external entities such as the IRS, garnishments agencies and taxing authorities.
Coordinates with Financial Services to manage the reconciliation of payroll expenditures, withholdings, vendor payments and benefits contributions.
Provides backup support for payroll processing as needed.
Participates in financial and benefits audits, ensuring full documentation and compliance with audit standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems or a related field.
Four years of direct, hands-on experience in Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), including configuration, reporting and business process workflows.
Demonstrated experience with payroll administration, including federal and state tax compliance, W-2 processing, garnishments, retirement contributions and benefit deductions.
Proven experience leading process improvement initiatives and implementing technology-driven HR solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a customer service orientation.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to build strong working relationships across departments and functions.
