Description
A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Government Affairs professional to join its London team on a maternity cover contract. This role involves supporting advocacy and political engagement in the UK, working closely with senior leadership to develop and execute public policy strategies.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies with UK policymakers, including HM Treasury, Parliament, devolved administrations, and other key institutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry associations and other stakeholders.
- Manage engagement plans, including bilateral meetings and participation in trade association events.
- Draft responses to public policy consultations in collaboration with internal subject-matter experts.
- Prepare briefing materials and talking points for senior executive meetings with policymakers.
- Monitor political, legislative, and regulatory developments, providing timely analysis and internal updates.
- Represent the organisation at external meetings and conferences, including occasional UK travel.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies, prioritising reputation and risk management.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong strategic thinking with attention to detail and ability to deliver results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.
- Ability to navigate UK political, legislative, and regulatory environments.
- Advanced research and analytical skills for preparing high-quality briefings.
- Knowledge of financial services and related policy issues desirable.
