About the ARRT:
The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) was founded in 1922 and is incorporated as a not-for-profit under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(C)(6). ARRT is a national certification organization that develops and administers credentialing services to assess the qualifications of individuals in medical imaging, and radiation therapy. ARRT currently certifies and registers more than 351,000 individuals nationwide as Registered Technologists.
ARRT believes that individuals performing medical imaging and radiation therapy should have, at minimum, the knowledge and cognitive skills underlying the intelligent performance of the tasks typically required of the staff technologist at entry into the profession.
ARRT Goals in Pennsylvania:
Our goal is to support the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in establishing a clear, consistent, and modern regulatory framework for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
Create licensure standards, define professional roles, and outline training and competency requirements to ensure that individuals who perform medical imaging, radiologic procedures, radiation therapy, and radiologist assistant services meet uniform qualifications across the state.
We aim to strengthen patient safety, improve quality of care, and provide regulatory clarity for healthcare facilities and practitioners by aligning Pennsylvania with nationally recognized educational and certification standards.
Work with a coalition of members and/or staff from the following stakeholder groups:
o Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologists (PSRT)
o American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)
o Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS)
